Recently we were notified that a mid-century modern home we hold dear in our hearts (you have seen the photos in a lot of our advertising) is going up for auction on January 23rd. The house, designed by Paul Hayden Kirk in 1955, is located in the Lake Heights/Newport Hills neighborhood in Bellevue at 4749 119th Ave SE, Bellevue 98006. It’s a beautiful little gem of a home with 1,843 square feet sitting on a private 43,000 square foot lot.
The home was lived in up until 2009 when the owner passed away and it has been in probate ever since. During her ownership she lovingly restored the home keeping Kirk’s original design intact, including making many structural upgrades. Unfortunately, in the time since her passing, the home has fallen into a state of disrepair. It desperately needs someone who can bring it back to its former glory as a representation of Kirk’s brilliant architectural talent.
Although 360 Modern broker Heidi Ward listed this home many years ago (the photos you see here are from that listing in 2009), 360 Modern is not currently listing the home and we have no financial interest in promoting it. As mid-century modern aficionados, we just hate to see it torn down. So, a word to all of our followers- if you are looking for a project and have the cash to participate in an auction, this may be a great opportunity. Please give us a call and we’ll tell you what we know.
