Seattleites, escape the rain and soak up some culture this weekend by checking out the Seattle Art Museum and its Three-Day Free Day. Beginning on Friday January 20th through Sunday January 22nd, all of the museum’s permanent collection galleries are free to the public. Also, in celebration of the 100th birthday of one of Seattle’s most beloved artists, a new exhibition debuts Saturday January 21st, the Jacob Lawrence-Migration Series. This is a rare chance to see Lawrence’s acclaimed series; comprised of 60 tempera paintings in its entirety. This is the first showing of this series on the West Coast in two decades and runs through April 23, 2017. This masterwork depicts the mass exodus of African Americans from the rural South to the Industrial North decades after World War One.
