Prefabricated homes have been skyrocketing in popularity recently and are offered at often affordable price points. Often known as prefabs, prefabricated homes are built almost entirely offsite, are eco-friendly and offer clean lines and flexibly designed spaces that lend themselves to modern living. The National Association of Home Builders states, “Modular homes are the ultimate prefabricated building system. These highly customizable, environmentally-friendly homes are built almost entirely in a factory setting, saving both home owners and builders time, effort and money.Once the main modules of a new home are constructed— complete with attached walls, floor, ceiling, wiring, plumbing and interior fixtures—they are transported to the home owner’s chosen lot and placed on a permanent foundation by a crane. Each home is designed and constructed to meet all state and national building and fire codes, and a local builder does the final finish work.”
Turkel Design’s partnership with Dwell, the Axiom series, offers an array of inspiring choices in Prefab homes, and has just launched its first Prefab show home in California, Dwell Prefab Palm Springs. Turkel Design states, “Featuring our signature post and beam construction and an open great room breezing out to a private courtyard, this beautiful 2,000 square foot home draws from the lifestyle and culture of Palm Springs – seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living.”
